Hi, I’m Jenny. Farm girl and blog post writer for On The Green Farms.
Summer (2015) was the first time that I had ever built my own farm! It was not easy but worth it because now we can grow our own food at home without worrying about pesticides or herbicides!
I am an Agricultural Services and Natural Resources major with a minor in Biology. I graduated from Texas Tech University in May of 2017 with my Bachelor’s degree. My interest is mainly focused on ecology, but I also like the idea of sustainability and how it relates to agriculture.
I have always liked plants and growing things so when I found out about hydroponics systems, they became one of my main interests.

It started out with a little garden box in the backyard. My husband and I were looking for an easy way to grow more of our own food, but didn’t want to spend hours on it every day. So we got into hydroponics; that was when things really took off!
Before too long we had this amazing system set up with several different raised beds, fish tanks, and water catchment areas all designed around sustainability principles.
I know what you’re thinking: organic gardening isn’t just about saving money or getting fresh vegetables for dinner — it’s about being kinder to ourselves, the earth and future generations.
That’s why my family is so passionate about growing our own food organically.
Our family set this website up so we could share our journey and the lessons we’ve learned in living a more simple and self-sufficient life.
We do not claim to have all the answers but we do have first-hand experiences and continued ‘hands on’ education that we are happy to share with you to help you along on your own journey.
